Jonathan Greenberg

Born:
Jonathan Greenberg was born and grew up in New York City. He got a musical education from his father, David Greenberg, a composer/arranger, pianist and band leader who taught him all styles of music. Jon recorded with Jimmy Knepper, Kenny Washington, Drew Francis, Loren Schoenberg, Howard Hodge, Jay Leonhardt, Ronnie Bedford, Jerry Kale, Santo “Sonny” Russo and Don Hahn. Jon played trumpet in pit orchestras for Guys & Dolls, South Pacific, Fiddler on the Roof plus concerts at Carnegie Hall four times and Alice Tully Hall once before the age of 16.
At age 16, he moved to Virginia and played with The Ringling Bros/Barnum & Bailey Circus every time they came to Hampton and Norfolk, performed with the Temptations, O’Jays, Coasters, Drifters, Platters plus the Tidewater Jazz All-Stars which opened for Doc Severinsen at the Town Point Jazz Festival. He then produced an original Sonata when he was just 19 years old and recorded it with Joel Futterman and Russell Scarborough in 1979.

Derek Worthington

Born:
Derek Worthington is a trumpet player, composer, and improviser based in Ann Arbor, MI. He is the founder and director of the Arbor Composers Collective, a mid-sized ensemble dedicated to the performance of original, experimental music (which is featured on his album Lovely Properties). Derek leads a quartet, The Great Collapsing Hrung, and the less cleverly named Derek Worthington Quintet, in addition to being a member of the collaborative improvising groups Braintree and Lords and Ladies. He performs as a sideman around Ann Arbor in such bands as creative folk/jazz quartet Mountain Shark and Balkan funk band Ornamatik, among others

Maite Hontelé

Dutch trumpeter Maite Hontelé used to tour the world with her salsa-band, but decided to change her live-path.
Hontelé lived in Medellín, Colombia for almost 10 years, where she recorded 4 albums as a band-leader. She was nominated for a Latin Grammy in 2014 and 2019 and was named 'Artist of the Year' by the Colombian national public radio. She toured and recorded with Latin music legends such as Ruben Blades, Oscar D'León, Gilberto Santa Rosa, Orquesta Aragón, Alain Pérez, Juancho Valencia and many more.
In 2018 Hontelé returned to her homeland, where she became artistic director for the Music Meeting Festival

Kate Amrine

Born:
Kate Amrine is a trumpet player familiar with many different styles including classical, jazz, and musical theatre. She is a graduate of NYU Steinhardt with a BM in Trumpet Performance and during her time at NYU, she studied with Thomas Hoyt, Laurie and Jeremy Pelt. She is frequently involved in musical theater productions in the city including West Side Story, In the Heights, Company, City of Angels, Anything Goes, Sweeney Todd, and Into the Woods. Kate is also a music contractor in the NYC area and recently contracted a 26 member orchestra for Tisch New Theatre’s production of West Side Story at Skirball Center for the Performing Arts. Kate recently started her own brass quintet, performing both classical and jazz, featuring some of her own compositions and arrangements – some of which were recently premiered on her senior recital

Adam O'Farrill

Brooklyn native, Adam O'Farrill (b. 1994) has emerged as a “rising star as a player and composer” (PopMatters) and “a blazing young trumpet talent” (The New York Times). Coming from a rich musical lineage, Adam’s grandfather was the boundary-pushing Cuban composer and arranger, Chico O’Farrill; his father is the composer, pianist, and activist, Arturo O’Farrill; his mother, Alison Deane, is a classical pianist and educator; and his brother, Zack O’Farrill, is a drummer and composer, who also performs in Adam’s band, Stranger Days. Further shaped by growing up in the rich and diverse musical community of New York City, Adam has cemented himself as one of the most in-demand trumpet players in New York City, as well as internationally. He has collaborated and performed with the likes of Hiromi, Mary Halvorson, Anna Webber, Samora Pinderhughes, Kaoru Watanabe, Tyshawn Sorey, Mulatu Astatke, Rudresh Mahanthappa, Vijay Iyer, Stimmerman, Patricia Brennan, Son Lux, Micah Thomas, and Sunny Jain.

Bud Gordon

Bud went to Eagle Rock High School, graduating in 1978. Some of his musical cohorts while there were guitarist Larry Koonse, bassist Scott Colley, drummer Daryl VanDruff, and trumpeter Roger Ingram. While in High School Bud earned the honor of playing at the Monterey Jazz Festival's All Star Big Band. Jazz Greats Thad Jones, George Duke, and Dave Friesen directed the band in sets of their music at the Sunday afternoon concert. After school, Bud toured for a year and a half with the great soul singer Ray Charles that included stops in France, Germany, Italy, Australia and Hawaii. When Bud returned to Los Angeles, he immediately became part of the vibrant salsa music scene
