Fano Jazz by the Sea 2020

by Libero Farnè
August 4, 2020

Fano, varie sedi 24-31.7.2020 Un festival estivo in piena regola. ...

Giovanni Falzone Open Quartet: L'albero delle fate

by Emmanuel Di Tommaso
May 20, 2020

"L'albero delle fate racconta di un luogo speciale. Da alcuni anni amo molto trascorrere il mio poco tempo libero sul delizioso Lago di Endine dove cammino, osservo, penso, immagino... e dove riesco a percepire la vita nella sua essenzialità e bellezza più alta, laddove è a contatto con la natura. Per questo mio nuovo lavoro discografico, ...

Paolo Fresu

Born: February 10, 1961

The village marching band and the most important international awards, the Sardinian countryside and the albums, discovering jazz and his many collaborations, his love of small things and Paris.

There are not many people capable of putting together such a diverse array of elements and turn it into such an incredible and fast stylistic growth. Paolo Fresu succeeded in a country like Italy where, for too long, jazz was famous just like Shakespeare or Matisse paintings, Armstrong was little more than a freak show and Miles Davis was acknowledged well after his creative peak. The magic lies in the spontaneous way in which he managed to convey the deepest meanings and magic of his native land with the most precious of the arts.

In 2017 the AVA Trio released their debut album Music from an Imaginary Land (Tritone Records) and promptly made their mark by earning spots on several year-end polls. That inaugural release was a unique amalgamation of ethnic influences and free improvisation. With the release of Digging the Sand, the group continues to mine the imagination and ...

It's Christmas Again

by Marc Cohn
December 23, 2019

So, we've got our usual group of holiday favorites. But wait! There's more. We've got a new Eight Track Christmas from guitarist Dave Stryker, a stupendous live Jazzy Christmas concert from trumpeter Paolo Fresu (and I mean truly stupendous! I've listened to the CD at least six times while putting this show together). And it's a ...
