Beyond All About Jazz: Sharing Jazz Across the Web
Recently, I revisited two such features: our RSS feeds and embeddable content widgets.
Neither is particularly new. In fact, both have been around long enough to remember a very different internet. But they're still useful, and they deserve a little attention.
The idea behind them is simple: Jazz information shouldn't be confined to All About Jazz.
For more than three decades, we've worked to make jazz easier to discover, whether through articles, album reviews, interviews, musician profiles, music, or live events. And while we certainly appreciate people visiting our websites, we've also developed tools that allow others to share some of that information with their own audiences.
RSS Feeds: An Old Idea That Still Works
RSS (Really Simple Syndication) allows readers to follow updates from their favorite websites without having to visit each one individually.Choose an RSS reader, subscribe to the feeds that interest you, and new content appears as it's published. No social media algorithm deciding what you should see. Just information from sources you've chosen to follow.
All About Jazz offers feeds for articles, album reviews, interviews, news, birthdays, Song of the Day, and more.
RSS is also useful for website administrators and organizations that want to incorporate jazz updates into their own services.

Content Widgets: Bring Jazz to Your Website
Our embeddable content widgets take a slightly different approach.Rather than subscribing to updates through a reader, you can display regularly updated jazz content directly on your own website.
If you operate a jazz venue, festival, musician website, educational organization, or jazz blog, these widgets offer another way to provide useful information to your visitors without having to create or maintain that content yourself.
Select a widget, copy the provided code, and add it to your website. The content updates automatically.

The internet has changed considerably since we introduced these tools. Websites have come and gone, social networks have risen and fallen, and the ways people discover information continue to evolve.
But the underlying goal hasn't changed.
We want more people discovering jazz, learning about its musicians, exploring new recordings, and finding opportunities to experience the music.
Sometimes that means developing something entirely new. Other times, it means revisiting something we built years ago and reminding people that it's still there.
Our RSS feeds and content widgets fall into the latter category.
They're free, they're useful, and they're another small part of the infrastructure we've spent more than 30 years building for the jazz community.
