In a sea of talented vocalists on the Twin Cities Jazz Scene, Paula Lammers is a distinctive artist, “a solid soprano voice who shares each song’s story with heartfelt conviction, clear diction and a sweet (but not too-sweet) tone, swing where it needs to swing, energy where it needs to pop, wistful musing or upbeat sunshine as the story merits (Andrea Canter, Jazz Police.com). A native of St. Peter, MN, Paula recalls her first public performance of “Go Tell Aunt Rhody” at age four and wearing out the needles on her parents’ record player listening to Bing Crosby, Frank Sinatra, the Serendipity Singers and the Ray Coniff Singers

Maud Hixson

Hailed as “gently virtuosic” (All About Jazz), Maud Hixson is a devoted exponent of great songs, ranging from the classic Great American Songbook to the often unsung or forgotten compositions awaiting rediscovery. Based in Saint Paul, Minnesota, Maud made her Guthrie Theater debut in the Noel Coward revue Coward’s Women, also appearing in Park Square Theater’s The Soul of Gershwin. She teamed with Sir Richard Rodney Bennett in 2012 for the long-running Midtown Jazz at Midday concert series at Saint Peter’s and debuted her show Skyscraper Wits in London and New York in 2015

Daniel Volovets

Born: April 26, 1992

Daniel Volovets, 17, has been studying classical, Brazilian, and flamenco guitar for almost 10 years. His love affair with music began at the age of 7, when he began studying with classical guitarist Anatoly Shapiro. He has also studied with Tony Hauser, concentrating heavily on Brazilian and flamenco music, and with James Flegel at the University of Minnesota. Daniel has performed extensively throughout the Twin Cities and has recorded three albums: Melodias Brasileiras, Watercolors of the World, and Silhouette.

Lee Engele

Lee has been gaining more and more acclaim as a talented and hard-working vocalist in the region. Her recent gigs have included The Dakota, The Twin Cities Jazz Festival, and Hopkins Center for the Arts, as well as many of the local jazz venues. Lee was a participant in the 2008 edition of the prestigious Yale Cabaret Conference, and appeared at the Bloomington Center for the Arts in December 2009 with Debbie Duncan and Bruce Henry in a salute to the 60th anniversary of Birdland. Lee also has worked as Disc Jockey for the past 25 years, and has performed in radio, voice-overs, theater, and with a number of local Big Bands
