Julian Hartwell

Julian Hartwell is a sought-after jazz pianist, composer, bandleader, and educator based in Philadelphia, PA. Originally hailing from Birmingham, Alabama, for the past 18 years he has been performing throughout the Delaware Valley and beyond – making a name for himself and sharing his talents at jazz clubs to rock venues, high-class cocktail hours, local jam sessions and everything in between. Diane Roblin

Diane Roblin’s dynamic career has earned her a place among Canada’s most respected women in jazz. Known for her powerful compositions and expressive keyboard style, Diane’s performances blend technical agility with a deep commitment to the connective power of music. As a composer, pianist, electric keyboardist, improviser, and bandleader, Diane’s spirited, genre-crossing work has led to collaborations with artists ranging from avant-garde improviser Charles Gayle to the iconic rock band Rough Trade. Her new album, Breath of Fresh Air, released on Zsan Records in late 2024, continues this legacy. It showcases Roblin’s expansive musical voice, weaving jazz, funk, and impressionist harmony into compositions that are both adventurous and deeply moving. Leading her six-piece ensemble, Life Force, Diane explores high-energy soundscapes punctuated by intricate, emotionally resonant improvisations. Critics have praised her work:JAZZFM91 calls her compositions “fascinating,” while WholeNote writes, Roblin reminds us of her skill, not only as a pianist but as a new music composer." A classical pianist by training, Diane pursued a diverse music education at York University in Toronto, immersing herself in jazz improvisation, world music, and electronic composition with David Rosenboom. She has also studied with mridangam master Trichy Sankaran and participated in the Ornette Coleman/Karl Berger workshop in NYC, where she worked with luminaries like Lee Konitz, and in the Dutch Improv Academy with drummer Hans Bennink.

Azar Lawrence

Azar Lawrence led a very musical childhood and began playing drums at the age of five and moved onto violin and piano under the direction of his mother Ima Lawrence. Ima, a gifted musician and teacher from whom Azar received his acute flair for all things music has shaped many successful musicians. Azar began playing with the USC JR Orchestra at the age of five. He played violin until the age of 8. He performed vocals accompanied by his mother during elementary school where she taught sixth grade and music At age eleven he began hearing a different musical voice. Ian Michael Brown

Ian Michael Brown is a pianist, keyboardist, and organist from Grove City, Pennsylvania.  Ian is a passionate jazz composer and musician who recently released his first album, “The Beauty of Not Knowing” containing ten original jazz fusion tunes taking inspiration from some of Ian’s favorite musicians.  Currently, Ian is working in Pittsburgh, PA as a pianist, music director, and organist in addition to his writing. Van Taylor

Van Taylor has entertained all over the world at various Resorts and Embassies for over 30 years. He is a songwriter, and owner of Van Taylor Production music publishing company, and TM International an Internet music distributor company. Van is an artist developer, concert promoter and event coordinator. Van is the bandleader of the internationally known R&B/Jazz band “Taylor Made Jazz”. They have three CDs on the market produced by Van Taylor. Van also owns the group VTP, “Van Taylor Project”, a Jazz-fusion presentation— using Funk, Jazz, Smooth Jazz, Blues, and Reggae. In 2008 Van Taylor and the band celebrated its 21st anniversary by donating proceeds to National inner-city youth opportunities and student against violence education. In 2009 Van Taylor organized and produced “Concert From The Heart” the 1st cross-genre concert bringing together classical, jazz rhythm and blues musicians to benefit the Foodbank of Western New York, and the Buffalo City Mission. The feature the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra and Taylor Made Jazz Concert Band, The Legendary Singer Lance Diamond, the Old School B-Boys, The Mark Mazur Big little Band. Over the course of 30 years, Van has helped educate hundreds of musicians, and thousands of children with musical workshops, and has provided shows for over a hundred thousand members of our U.S. troops, their families and our allies by lifting their spirits and morale with musical performances. Van has produced several successful artists, and many of his music students have opened their own businesses with their own bands, creating hundreds of jobs and providing uplifting entertainment for our service men and women.

Cambridge-based Q3 was formed in 2013 and has a high quality line up featuring Kevin Flanagan on sax (Rip Rap, Tommy Chase, Chris Ingham), Martin Hallmark on piano (Helen McDonald and Juba, Andy Bowie Quartet), Tiago Coimbra on bass (Hiromi, Resolution 88, Dennis Rollins, Orphy Robinson, Myles Sanko) and Derek Scurll  / Oscar Reynolds on drums. Thomas Wingren

Wingren has dedicated most of his life to studies in percussion and his career as a free-lance musician. His drive for expanding his knowledge has taken him to places of special musical interest like New York, Rio de Janeiro and Havana for in-depth studies. Though the folk music tradition always has been the starting point, the use of percussion in jazz and progressive electronica has been his focus the last couple of years. By widening his field of work in this direction a lot of new possibilities have opened up with the use of samplers, looping-techniques and computer based gear. The integration of new technology in acoustic music has resulted in Wingrens most ambitious project to date, Soundscape Orchestra which is a quintet playing futuristic electronic jazz based on productions in Ableton Live
