The MacroQuarktet: The Complete Night: Live At The Stone NYC

Read "The Complete Night: Live At The Stone NYC" reviewed by Mark Corroto

Listening to The MacroQuarktet calls to mind comedians Robin Williams and Jonathan Winters. Did they warm up before an evening of improvisational comedy? Once on stage or a TV talk show, instantaneously they were 'on,' firing a superabundance of thoughts, jokes, impressions, etc at their audience. It is the same for the two improvised music sets ...

A sei anni di distanza dall'ottimo esordio, ecco il secondo capitolo del Devin Gray's Dirigo Rataplan, una delle formazioni che l'ancor giovane batterista di stanza a New York utilizza per veicolare la sua eclettica visione musicale. Dave Ballou: The Windup

Read "The Windup" reviewed by Giuseppe Segala

Dave Ballou & BeepHonk: The Windup

Read "The Windup" reviewed by Glenn Astarita

Highly regarded trumpeter Dave Ballou and his band recorded this outing live at the Baltimore venue The Windup Space, where bassist Adam Hopkins organized weekly concerts in 2011. With its debut, the quartet combines briefly stated structural components with hearty doses of improvisation, featuring embryonic guitar hero, Washington D.C. native Anthony Pirog (Janel & Anthony, The ...

Dirigo Rataplan is a group led by drummer Devin Gray that contains three outstanding musicians with Baltimore ties, saxophonist Ellery Eskelin, trumpeter Dave Ballou and bassist Michael Formanek. All About Jazz & Jazz Near You were built to promote jazz music: both recorded and live events. We rely primarily on venues, festivals and musicians to promote their events through our platform. With club closures, shelter in place and an uncertain future, we've pivoted our platform to collect, promote and broadcast livestream concerts to support our jazz musician friends. This is a significant but neccesary effort that will help musicians now, and in the future. You can help offset the cost of this essential undertaking by making a donation today. In return, we'll deliver an ad-free experience (which includes hiding the bottom right video ad). Thank you.
