Featuring James Vine on drums, Harry Stoneham on bass and Alun Elliot-Williams on guitar.

Dakhla Brass

Riding high on the wave of brass band-influenced jazz, Bristol-based Dakhla Brass are back with a new album – Murmur – on Impossible Ark Records. With their first new release since BBC Introducing & Jamie Cullum presented them at Montreal Jazz Festival in 2016, the unusual line up of four brass players + drummer is augmented with Nostalgia 77 double bassist Riaan Vosloo. Expect a lattice of intricate brass lines over simmering drums, flurries of improvisation and carefully-crafted through-arrangements. With rave reviews from the likes of The Telegraph, Jazzwise and Jamie Cullum on BBC Radio 2, the new album will be launched at London’s Kings Place on the 6th October.

“Azhaar & Global Wave” recdntly released the debut album “Original Love” on May 4th. “One of the most distinctive acts on the jazz world scene” BBC Radio Wales Violinist / singer-songwriter Azhaar Saffar is releasing her 1st album since fronting acclaimed Brazilian jazz group Sirius B. (Montreux jazz, Mai jazz, 606 Club, Glastonbury Brecon jazz) ) She has also worked with jazz luminaries Peewee Ellis, Iain Ballamy, and Jason Rebello A self confessed nomad of Iraqi/Welsh origins, she recently returned from performing and teaching in Latin America where she composed the songs for her new album 'Original Love' The album features top jazz flautist Gareth Lockrane and DJ/’congeiro’ Snowboy who also produced the title track and has had a phenomenal reaction on major radio stations in the UK and worldwide

Natalie and Dave play their favourite music from the jazz and blues classics of the 1920s through to the 1960s, and beyond, They came together to further explore and develop their own take on these classic jazz standards. They have been gigging in and around the Bristol and the South West for the last five years or so. They are also very close neighbours, both coming from the same neighbourhood in their hometown city of Bristol UK. They have made two CD's and two DVD's. Both have had extensive performance experience in and around the Bristol and South West (UK) area, inclusive of a number of radio appearances on both sides of the Atlantic. Artists they both like: Bessie Smith, Billie Holiday, Julie London - all the great female jazz singers. Guitarists influencing Dave: Mississippi John Hurt, Rev Gary Davis, Bert Jansch, John Renbourne, Stefan Grossman, Jo Pass, Django and all the great jazz guitarists. They have a lively YouTube channel which is attracting increasing levels of attention

Played in different and between genres, exploring aspects of jazz, blues, traditional music, experimental and free improv. Primarily a pianist I also play accordion, guitar and a variety of percussion, with a particular interest in musical stone. I have recordings released with various bands (including Accordions Go Crazy, Poorboys, Cadillac Kings, Wanderlust) and in collaboration with others (including Lol Coxhill, Sylvia Hallett, Clive Bell, Chris Cundy, Paul Jolly). More recent releases include "In the case of darkness" (33 Jazz), "Accord" (Linear Obsessional Recordings) "Sheffield" [Flying Down Trio] (Wavetable) and "Wanderlust" (Paper Label Records).

Greg Cordez

UK-born, New Zealand raised, Cordez has lived and worked in London, Madrid, and New York City. A busy bassist, composer and educator now settled in the vibrant Bristol music scene. As a jazz performer, Cordez has performed and recorded with Tony Malaby, Jon Cowherd, Steve Cardenas, Kenny Wollesen, Allison Miller, Kirk Knuffke, Micheal Blake, Iain Ballamy, Jason Rebello, Tim Garland, Huw Warren, Martin France, Chris Biscoe, Andy Sheppard, Sam Crockatt, Gareth Lochrane, John Law amongst others. In 2013 Cordez started work on his project involving the talents of Jake McMurchie, Nick Malcolm, Jim Blomfield, and Mark Whitlam
