Wadada Leo Smith: Tabligh
Questo gruppo denominato 'Golden Quartet' ha infatti la competenza tecnica e la personalità per percorrere una strada propria che sa fare uso discreto delle suggestioni per poi avanzare con coerenza e passione lungo scenari che sono assolutamente originali e immaginifici.
La chiave di lettura più utilizzata sembra essere quella della circospezione, dell’approfondimento, del movimento rallentato e denso di sfumature, anche se al momento giusto la batteria dello straordinario Ronald Shannon Jackson sa fornire spunti di elettricità luciferina che non si fanno mancare energia e capacità propulsiva.
Lo assecondano molto bene il contrabbassista John Lindberg, veterano di appassionanti battaglie combattute al fianco di Anthony Braxton e altri eroi dell’avanguardia, e il più giovane pianista Vijay Iver, un musicista che conferma con questa bella prova la sua fama emergente alternado, con buon senso dell’insieme, il pianoforte acustico con quello elettrico e con le tastiere malandrine del synth.
I quattro lunghi brani scritti da Leo Smith forniscono il canovaccio perfetto per lasciare risuonare a lungo una musica a volte dolente, a volte incalzante, a volte lunare, quasi mai solare. Una musica che ci prende per la gola, ci trascina per i bassifondi della ragione, ci lascia andare solo quando è ben certa di averci intossicato.
Lasciatela fare e non ve ne pentirete.
