Comprimari di lusso, i Prophetz of Time and Space hanno un curriculum alle spalle da paura. Jerry Goodman, violinista, faceva parte della Mahavishnu Orchestra; Brandon Fields, sassofonista, spesso alla corte di George Benson; Munyungo Jackson, percussionista con gente come Miles Davis, Herbie Hancock e Joe Zawinul; Otmaro Ruiz, tastierista con McLaughlin; Leon Chancler, batterista di Davis e Weather Report.

Con un’esperienza di questo tipo, la band non poteva che proporre un altro disco, dopo una manciata di prove convincenti, di forte impatto tecnico ed espressivo. E così, String Theory, naviga a vista nei mari del miglior jazz rock d’antan.

Dall’iniziale “Boo Jee Woo Gee” con un groove funky e molto vicino allo spirito degli “uccelli di fuoco”, alle più soffuse atmosfere di “Finnigan`s Dream”, “Gem”, ai tributi più o meno espliciti di “Milesaway”, fino al lirismo di “Reminiscence” e alla cantabilità di “Tangashaka”.

I turnisti vanno in paradiso.
