Diane Schuur: Some Other Time
In questo disco Diane Schuur affronta con la sua band standards degli autori più famosi e riesce a darne interpretazioni di tutto rispetto, che hanno le caratteristiche giuste per passare a pieni voti all'ascolto del pubblico piú critico.

Il suo è un lavoro che ha dell'artigianale: le grandi versioni, le innovazioni, le hanno già fatto le altre. Lei si limita ad eseguire di nuovo con grande classe degli standards nella tradizione di un mainstream senza tempo, immettendovi del feeling vero. Una cantante competente e raffinata, in grado di presentare composizioni differenti per umore e di farle parte del proprio mondo espressivo. A darle man forte c'è una ritmica ferrata e la chitarra di Don Palmer, che ci ricorda subito cosa è il suo strumento nel jazz.

Le versioni di "Taking a Chance on Love" o "My Favorite Things" sono certo da citare, non solo per la sua intepretazione, ma anche per la perfetta interazione con la ritmica.
