We open the show with an epic piece from Simon Phillips, followed by the boundary-pushing soundscapes of Norwegian guitarist Elvind Aarset. Anthony Garone returns with his signature odd-metered rock fusion, while drummer Jason Kruk teams up with bassist Michael League for a compelling musical journey. We'll also hear electronic jazz textures from Claudio Scolari. Armenian pianist Tigran Hamasyan delivers a breathtaking wall of sound, while guitarist Jack Gardiner joins forces with Swedish bassist Henrik Linder for some irresistibly funky, rock-tinged grooves. We'll travel back to 1979 for a classic fusion excursion from Brazilian pioneers Grupo Um before wrapping up our new releases segment with Indian drummer Sidharth Nagarajan and virtuoso bassist Mohini Dey. In the second half of the program, there's intense live music from 2010 featuring guitar legend John McLaughlin followed by another epic composition from bassist Antoine Fafard recorded in 2017. And to close the show, we'll hear a stellar collaboration from 2005 featuring bassist Jeff Berlin, Scott Henderson, Steve Smith and the late T. Lavitz. Enjoy the music.
