About the Album
Mountain Time
The alpine landscape, with its unspoiled nature and close proximity to the mountains, has long fascinated Reinhold «Reini» Schmölzer. Living at 1,400 meters above sea level has left its mark not only on his life, but also on his music. A distinctive feature of this recording is the hammered dulcimer – an instrument rooted in alpine traditions yet rarely heard in a Jazz Orchestra. Its shimmering sound adds a unique color to the ensemble’s sonic palette. Whether the inspiration behind this music comes from the breathtaking views, the profound silence, or simply the thinner mountain air remains, at least scientifically speaking, an open question.
