Yvonne Moriel

Austrian saxophone player and composer Yvonne Moriel's music isn't easy to label but that fits the artist’s intention. Fusing Jazz, Dub, Hiphop und Electronic, her goal is to write instrumental music without stylistic restrictions. In an often impulsive creative formation process, she is always striving to create a special atmosphere. By bringing together different styles of music and musical approaches she constantly winds up somewhere else and never lacks new inspiration. Despite mastery of the instrument the focus is never on technical skills but always on the music itself. The enjoyment of combining and experimenting with different genres and the desire for creating her own music has had a strong impact on Yvonne Moriel’s career. Starting out with a focus on classical music her interest only later developed towards improvised music. In 2015 the saxophone player started her jazz-studies at Musik und Kunst University Vienna and in 2018 she decided to fully concentrate on a career in music. While playing concerts all over Europe, many national and international festivals and her work with artists and bands of different genres such as AVEC, Yukno, Adaolisa or the renowned Franui ensemble, the artist has put her focus increasingly on the creation of her own music.
