Tomasz Stańko Quartet: September Night

Una musica sospesa, carica di pathos, magari sempre un po' uguale a se stessa (all'interno di questo album, che viene da lontano, essendo stato inciso addirittura nel 2004, ma più in generale nell'ultima produzione di Tomasz Stańko), ma in possesso di un potere seduttivo immutato, e peraltro con periodiche impennate (per esempio in "Euforila," ma anche in "Elegant Piece," e sono questi i momenti in cui si avvertono le maggiori similitudini con Enrico Rava, in certe strappate repentine, certi squarci improvvisi) che ne segnano —ne puntellano, diremmo—ottimamente lo sviluppo dinamico, è quanto ritroviamo in questa recente "dissepoltura" di casa ECM, ulteriore testimonianza del lavoro, sempre di esemplare coerenza, del celebratissimo quartetto del trombettista polacco, che ci ha lasciati nel 2018 alla neanche poi così veneranda età di anni settantasei.

Sette i brani, svarianti dai cinque agli undici minuti, tutti a firma di Stanko tranne "Kaetano," a paternità collettiva. La musica è quella pur così sinteticamente descritta, una musica che chi conosce la storia del trombettista polacco troverà assolutamente—felicemente—familiare. Non sembra esserci granché altro da aggiungere, se non che ognuno dei musicisti fa per intero il suo dovere, anche se è innegabile che sia attorno alla tromba che tutto ruota. Non potrebbe del resto essere diversamente.
