Tribal Tech: Solemn

Mike Jacobs By Mike Jacobs

View read count
On its way to becoming the stalwart fusion quartet it was in the '90s, Tribal Tech underwent more than a few personnel changes. (TT was more of a non-touring, studio entity in its early days.) One who held the keyboard chair for a scant two songs was Will Boulware. His presence on Dr. Hee (Relativity, 1987) was notable in that those two songs—"Seek and Find" and the above, "Solemn"—were written by him and they remain standouts in the TT canon for their interwoven complexity and modulating motifs. As bodacious as TT would become, it's still something of a gas to hear them straight-up, serving Boulware's wonderfully penned composition.
