Nicola Andrioli Paris 4tet: Pulsar

In perenne movimento tra Brindisi (città natale), Bruxelles e Parigi, il pianista e compositore Nicola Andrioli non poteva non riversare nella musica contenuta in Pulsar la molteplicità delle proprie esperienze artistiche e di vita. Così nell'iniziale "Summer 2003," una dolce e discreta introduzione di quartetto d'archi ci spedisce lungo le rive della Senna, con il sax melodioso e swingante di Fabrizio Scarafile che ci culla nel dolce far niente di una notte d'estate parigina. Le voci di Enza Pagliara e di Dario Muci che introducono "Goodnight and Calimera" ci riportano a casa, a prendere il sopravvento sono i colori del Mediterraneo, il sax soprano ci ricorda quanto sia vicino il medio-oriente, le percussioni aggiungono sapori esotici.

In "Way North" convivono addirittura il pianismo raffinato alla Bill Evans (la prima parte del brano), con un inserto centrale degno del quartetto di John Coltrane del periodo Impulse!. La chitarra di Rocco Zifarelli impreziosisce con eleganza la densa "Beyond the City," il Fender Rhodes di Andrioli colora di una garbata leggerezza fusion "Agger". La lunga title-track - in evidenza il pianismo del leader in bilico tra raffinate armonizzazioni, senso del blues e accennate assimetrie - con i suoi decisi cambi di atmosfera e i frequenti accavallamenti ritmici sintetizza al meglio lo spirito aperto e poliglotta dell'incisione. Chiusura con "Blues Sky," brano dalla robusta spina dorsale funky.

Troppi riferimenti, troppa carne al fuoco, eccessivo melting pot culturale e musicale? Può essere, ma Pulsar è anche un bell'esempio di vitalità e curiosità musicale.
