Lars-Erik Norrström Trio: Poetic Licence
La loro musica passa dalle atmosfere tipiche dei pianisti contemporanei che si ispirano a Bill Evans (il "Rain" d'apertura) a concetti più audaci (il dialogo fra pianoforte e synth di "I Hear Me"), dal basso quasi alla Jaco Pastorius in primo piano su "Misty Cliffs" agli impressionismi su una cadenza libera di "In the Studio". È così che l'album scorre brioso, con ingredienti noti che arrivano fino ad un poco di free ("Bass Song") che serve a dare a brevi tratti un pò di sapori forti, ma anche ricco di poesia nelle melodie scelte con cura ("Maric", "Words"), che giustificano il titolo del disco.
L'universo musicale al quale i tre si abbandonano suona originale nell'organizzazione sonora. Alla fine si tratta di un album che poco ha in comune con i lavori di altri trii piu' famosi.
