Celano - Baggiani Group: Nothing Changes

Nella folta schiera di musicisti argentini basati in Europa (in Italia il più conosciuto è Javier Girotto), un posto di rilievo spetta senza dubbio a Guillermo Celano e Marcos Baggiani. Innanzitutto perché basati ad Amsterdam, uno dei luoghi più fecondi in Europa, forse al mondo, per la musica creativa. E poi in quanto parte di TryTone, interessante esperienza a cavallo tra il collettivo di musicisti, la casa discografica, l'agenzia di booking, l'organizzazione di festival. Insomma, parte di un crocevia di musiche e musicisti che, come si può leggere nel manifesto della TryTone, promuove uno stile non convenzionale, innovativo, di avanguardia.

Tutti elementi che ritroviamo in questo Nothing Changes, disco che cattura la nostra attenzione già a partire dalla configurazione strumentale, piuttosto inconsueta e che conferisce alla musica freschezza e levità anche nelle fasi più concitate ed intense. Dopo una prima traccia interlocutoria, troppo sospesa per essere un incipit convincente, con "The Gamekeeper" di Michael Moore si entra nel vivo dell'album. Punto di partenza, melodie apparentemente semplici, che sottendono invece una bella complessità. Originale anche lo sviluppo dei brani, che passa attraverso l'intreccio collettivo dei due fiati e della chitarra. Un'improvvisazione, molto presente, che non segue dunque i canoni convenzionali del solo a rotazione, che diventa realmente parte integrante della composizione. Tanto che risulta difficile tracciare una linea netta tra la scrittura e l'invenzione del momento (un indubbio pregio, e testimonia della perfetta coesione del quintetto).
