This Week in Fusion & Jazz-Rock: Global Grooves and Bass-Driven Brilliance We're diving into some exciting new music from across the globe, starting with fresh releases from Italian bassist Lorenzo Feliciati and Dutch odd tempo groove master Barend Tromp. From Japan, we've got vibrant new tracks from jazz-fusion legends T-Square and Casiopea keeping the genre alive with their signature precision and energy. Also in the spotlight is Sydney guitarist Kypo, dropping a standout new single full of melodic fire and rhythmic flair. On the jazz side, we feature powerful contributions from drummer Curtis Nowosad and guitarist Andrew Renfroe, along with the sophisticated interplay of pianist Henrique Mota and drummer Igor Willcox from Brazil with their project Consciência Plena—a deep blend of Brazilian rhythms and modern jazz textures. We take it back to 2007 for some high-octane fusion from The Fifth Dimension, featuring bass virtuoso Antoine Fafard, Chapman Stick player Tomas Merlo (Madrid) and the explosive duo of Dave Weckl and Jay Oliver with the track Apocolypso. Also in rotation: keyboard wizard Steve Weingart, British fusion outfit Paroksha with drummer Marco Anderson, and dynamic performances from drummer-keyboardist Gary Husband. From Japan, the phenomenal Senri Kawaguchi teams up with keyboardist Kiyomi Otakafor a fierce fusion session. Plus Steve Hunt brings us his all-star project Fusion Collusion, while Brazil's own keyboard maestro Erik Escobar continues to push boundaries. Rounding it out is France's Sixun, delivering their unique brand of world-infused fusion grooves. From deep pocket bass lines to intricate keyboard solos and international collaborations, this is fusion at its most fearless and global.
