OGOGO: Lunar Surphase

Se il vostro motto è "in medio stat virtus", questo album non fa per voi. Il chitarrista Igor Grigoriev, che qui si cela dietro lo pseudonimo igOr, non ama certo le mezze misure, né percorrere sentieri noti e ben tracciati. L'ascoltatore è aggredito sin dalle prime note, che mescolano elaborazioni elettroniche a rimandi di adolescenziale memoria (i videogames Atari e Commodore 64).

Si vaga tra rock durissimo, profumi della tradizione colta russa, punk, techno, sonorità che una trentina d'anni fa si sarebbero definite "extraterrestri". Il tutto realizzato in perfetta solitudine, attraverso programmazione e loop. Con l'eccezione degli interventi solistici della chitarra (sonorità sempre molto cariche di elettricità) e di quattro tracce in cui compaiono anche dei fiati (la tromba ed il flauto di Andrei Solovyov, il trombone di Rod Oakes).

Musica spesso martellante. Le dinamiche sono compresse nella fascia alta, il volume intrinseco (indipendentemente dalle regolazioni sul vostro impianto hi-fi) è assai elevato. Il metronomo corre veloce. Non si ammicca all'ascoltatore, e neanche a se stessi. Musica senza compromessi. Sperimentale, eccessiva. Volutamente eccessiva. Pregevole negli intenti (creare qualcosa di fortemente innovativo utilizzando sonorità inequivocabilmente vintage), ma spesso fuori controllo.
