About the Album
Hubris is a piece from Simon Côté-Lapointe ='s Singularités(Hecto, 2026) that embodies uncompromising music, the fruit of a rapport so deeply rooted that it now dispenses with any prior agreement.
For more than twenty years, Simon and Magella have played together in various projects. They have recorded several duo keyboard-and-drums improvisation sessions in studio. Singularités crystallizes this long-standing rapport in its most direct form: free improvisations in keyboard-and-drums duo format.
The album draws on free jazz, fusion, and metal without belonging entirely to any one of these worlds. All the pieces were born in the moment — some enriched afterward with keyboard loops and overdubs, without ever betraying the raw energy of the original sessions.
