02. Louis Armstrong.
Satchmo è l'eroe di mio padre. Mi comprò una tromba all'età di sette anni e ho suonato questo strumento per otto anni. Armstrong è sempre stato presente a casa mia. Musica pura, ancora fresca e attuale oggi come posso immaginare lo fosse quando comparve per la prima volta.
03. The Cure - Boys Don't Cry (Elektra - 1980).
Mi piace la produzione e adoro il suono della band e in più il cantante è grande...
04. Amadou & Mariam - Dimanche Á Bamako (Nonesuch - 2005).
Ritmi e melodie affascinanti. Il suono degli strumenti è caldo e il groove è coinvolgente.
05. Cole Porter - Cole Sings Porter (Koch Int'l Classics - 1994).
Disco che mi ha passato l'amico Ben Street. E' un gran privilegio riuscire ad ascoltare questi classici suonati dallo stesso compositore.
06. Sonny Rollins - In Stockholm 1959 (Dragon - 1959).
Ho ascoltato Sonny Rollins in trio circa due anni fa alla Carnegie Hall. È stata una grande esperienza. In questo disco del 1959 suona in maniera incredibile, così come la sezione ritmica...
07. Frank Sinatra - The Early Years (Emporio - 2000).
Adoro la sua interpretazione di alcune delle mie canzoni preferite.
08. Charlie Christian - The Genius of the Electric Guitar (Sony - 2003).
Il suo linguaggio melodico e il suono della sua chitarra sono così freschi alle mie orecchie...
09. Charlie Parker - With Strings (Polygram - 1995).
Grandi brani, splendidi arrangiamenti e Charlie Parker che canta con il suo sax... wow !
10. Lee Konitz - Steve Swallow - Paul Motian - Three Guys (Enja - 1998).
Adoro il suono di Lee Konitz che per me è migliorato di anno in anno. Paul Motian è il mio batterista preferito. L'aver suonato con lui in differenti situazioni dal 2002 in poi è stata la grande fortuna della mia vita.
