Juri Dal Dan è uno dei molti eccellenti musicisti usciti dalla fucina friulana, autore di altri lavori di cui ci siamo occupati in passato tra i quali Trilogia di un viaggiatore ) e che presenta l'ultimo suo progetto, con il suo trio e l'ospite (non occasionale, né aggiunto come star di richiamo) Francesco Bearzatti.

Per quanto immaginario, il blues permea realmente il CD fin dal suo avvio, la breve improvvisazione introduttiva, con il lavoro del piano e l'intervento di Berzatti, e lo caratterizza in tutto il suo sviluppo. Pianoforte e sassofono sono naturalmente i protagonisti della scena, ma è interessante il modo in cui interviene la batteria di Alessandro Mansutti, che può essere apprezzato per esempio ascoltando la seconda improvvisazione, "Immaginario Blues #2," nella quale prima si muove libera e aggressiva dietro le linee del piano, screziandone gli sviluppi, e poi rafforza il ritmo del sassofono di Bearzatti, raddoppiandone il battere.

Il lavoro trova forse il suo punto più altro in "Illusione e noia nell'Illinois," bel brano nel quale il blues domina dall'inizio alla fine, grazie alla intensità e allo splendido fraseggio di Bearzatti, ma anche alla fluida e lirica interpretazione del blues dello stesso Dal Dan. Spazio qui anche a un eccellente assolo cantabile del contrabbasso di Romano Todesco, che costruisce in assolo anche un bel raccordo tra "Immaginario Blues #3" e "Hallelucination Blues." Singolare "Fugue Blues," che si apre con il piano che allude a scale barocche e che poi si sviluppa per sovrapposizioni del tema fino all'improvvisazione di Bearzatti.

Ottimo lavoro di jazz moderno, ben realizzato, coinvolgente ed eccellentemente suonato.
