Peo Alfonsi: Il velo di Iside

Musicista di grande sensibilità sullo strumento e visionarietà creativa in campo compositivo, il sardo Peo Alfonsi aveva esordito a proprio nome su Egea quattro anni fa con Itaca e oggi riprende quelle ispirazioni, allarga l'organico - diversificandolo di brano in brano - e tenta, con la musica, di aprire squarci nel velo che - come nel mito di Iside cui è intitolato il lavoro - ci rende tanto spesso impossibile cogliere le cose più belle e i momenti più importanti della nostra vita.

Aldilà delle ambizioni poetiche, Alfonsi dedica a questa ricerca quattordici composizioni originali, tutte piuttosto brevi, omogenee nello stile ma sensibilmente diverse nelle atmosfere, grazie anche al continuo mutamento della formazione: di sapore quasi country l'apertura, in quartetto, dominata da Alfonsi supportato da Maiore, in cui già comincia a farsi spazio Gregory; più "mediterranea" la successiva "La danza," con Mirabassi e la viola della Vicentini che si aggiungono, mentre Gregory si fa protagonista su livelli espressivi davvero mirabili; sospesa e magica "Angel," ove i fiati vengono sostituiti dalla fisarmonica di Beccalossi; e via inanellando piccole scene narrative ora lievi e descrittive, ora drammaturgicamente più intense.

Per esemplificare la versatilità di Alfonsi, si ascolti il primo solo di chitarra, "Inarritu", dal sapore di flamenco pur su toni intimisti, e il successivo "Il velo di Iside," dall'atmosfera invece quasi metheniana, cui segue un mediterraneissimo (e delizioso) duetto tra lui e Mirabassi ("Nana per Pico") e un brano tipicamente latinoamericano ("Pico-Tico"): una variazione continua di scena che non mette mai a rischio la cifra del lavoro e che perciò a maggior ragione testimonia la qualità di un CD dalle tessiture preziose e accurate, perfettamente interpretato da tutti i protagonisti, tra i quali merita menzionare, accanto al leader, soprattutto l'indispensabile Maiore e il lirico Gregory, raramente così luminosamente espressivo.
