Con Igloo Remo Anzovino tenta, con successo, una sintesi di generi diversi, realizzando un lavoro che alterna una sinfonia per orchestra a una serie di duetti, d'andamento più jazzistico, per piano e altro strumento. La continuità è garantita dall'unitarietà della composizione e l'alternanza di forme favorisce l'arricchimento per ibridazione delle une e delle altre.

La cifra della sinfonia per orchestra richiama da un lato alle composizioni italiane per cinema (ambito nel quale Anzovino ha molta esperienza), con incedere spesso lirico - ora struggente, ora in crescendo - e respiro ampio, dall'altro al postminimalismo, con brevi temi variati ripetutamente. Buone le idee tematiche e l'arrangiamento, che si avvale del solismo del leader, del fisarmonicista Gianni Fassetta e del chitarrista Marco Anzovino.

Le parti in duetto vedono la presenza di alcuni jazzisti di gran razza e del noto batterista Franz Di Cioccio. E sono proprio queste a donare originalità al lavoro, non tanto perché il resto non sia apprezzabile, ma perché la pause dialogiche, con elementi improvvisati, evitano che il lavoro si appiattisca su un genere tutto sommato noto o scivoli in un facile melodismo.

Poco da dire sull'intervento degli ospiti, presenti ciascuno solo per un brano ma comunque all'altezza della loro fama. Particolarmente riuscito è comunque "Eco di un canto," il duetto con il contrabbasso di Enzo Pietropaoli.

Da sottolineare che la traccia finale, "Ci sei anche tu," è dedicata al direttore dell'orchestra Tiziano Forcolin, scomparso pochi mesi dopo la registrazione del lavoro.
