Macromicrocosmi: Experimenti in Rome

In meno di mezz'ora i due membri di Macromicrocosmi - Piertomas Dell'Erba e Simone Porcelli - alle prese con pianoforte, sax tenore e suoni sintetici, ci mostrano diversi modi con cui creare paesaggi jazzistici in bilico fra musica acustica ed elettronica contemporanea. Una visita su My Space ci permette di trovare i loro (importanti) amici virtuali: Miles Davis, Herbie Hancock, Marcus Miller fra gli altri, che probabilmente li avranno ispirati con le loro evoluzioni nel campo della fusion, ma che poco hanno a che fare con il modo in cui i due giovani italiani utilizzano le proprie strumentazioni.

In un paio di brani Dell'Erba si mostra aggressivo, roco, memore di un Gato Barbieri in vena, accompagnato da sintetizzatori che cercano vie più rilassanti o sfere planetarie meno terrestri. Siamo in un'area molto speciale, fra new age e jazz elettrico, che si esprime attraverso bozzetti compiuti, senza le prolissità a cui ci aveva abituato il genere progressive.

Più difficile è comprendere la collocazione per questa musica: sottofondo per una mostra d'arte contemporanea, in ascensori di oggetti d'architettura moderna. È un moderno, il loro, che sfida le classificazioni prendendo da destra e sinistra e forse crea la colonna ideale sonora per i turisti che andranno in astronave.
