Event Imports & Venue Clean Up - A Team Effort
A few weeks back, we called out to venues about exporting their events to the Jazz Near You calendar (learn more here). In a recent development, we're happy to report that 20 venues use eTix and we imported nearly 1,000 events in one gulp yesterday. Now we'll have a full calendar of events for Dakota Jazz Club & Restaurant (Minneapolis), Yoshi's (Oakland), Charleston Jazz (Charleston), Middle C Jazz Club (Charlotte), Berklee Performance Center (Boston) and another 15 more. Many venues present more than jazz and with most feeds it's impossible to filter out non-jazz events, so if you see non-jazz events in your Jazz Near You calendar, please remain calm.
Speaking of Jazz Near You, we do a fabulous job of adding venues to our database. Where we're not-so-fab is identifying venues that have closed. Like Yelp, we want to identify closed venues and mark them as such (which removes them from the active list). If you have a moment, please visit our venue finder page, change to your city, then click on the pindrops. If a venue is permanently closed, click the "Venue closed? Report it to us" link, we'll get the message and take action. As we mentioned here, our goal is to keep our data clean and current, but with venue closures, we need everyone's help. Thank you.
