Jazz Dogs

Our weekly newsletters keep you connected to the latest in jazz—and to the work we're doing to strengthen the platform behind it. We also occasionally share stories from our community. Today, I want to share one of mine.

This past week, I said goodbye to my good buddy Sammy—AAJ's unofficial "Head of Security." We adopted Sam at 8 weeks, and for 14 years he stayed by my side as I worked from home on the All About Jazz you see today. He brought boundless joy, energy, and an endless enthusiasm for tennis balls. Sam was a gentle soul, as handsome as they come, and he lived the best possible life in our wooded, creekside home. They say life is better with a dog; with Sammy, it truly was.

As I've been sorting through his photos and videos—and putting together a playlist in his honor—it sparked an idea...

Dedicated to You: Our Dogs, Past and Present

I thought it would be meaningful and fun to celebrate our furry friends with a community photo gallery: Jazz Dogs. If you'd like to share a photo of your dog (past or present), sign in, then...

  • Go here
  • Click the Select Images to Upload button (choose a photo from your hard drive)
  • After selecting your image, click Upload Now
  • Click Tag Your Images and add a title, tags, and a short description
  • Be sure to tag your dog's name and add the jazz dogs tag

  • I've added some of Sammy to get us started. Once we've gathered enough "jazz dogs," I'll share the full gallery in a future newsletter. And if we get enough requests for jazz cats, we'll create a gallery for them too. :-)
