In a previous post, we outlined our effort to import jazz events via a venue's event management software's data feed and we struck gold with eTix (learn more here).

VenuePilot
This time around, we collaborated with VenuePilot and in the first phase, imported their jazz events in Denver (Dazzle Jazz Club, Field Arts And Events Hall, The Gift of Jazz) and New Orleans (Chickie Wah Wah). The next phase involves some NYC venues including Winter Jazzfest, Nublu 151, Joe's Pub, Le Poisson Rouge, and Roulette.Groupmuse
We also partnered with Groupmuse to import their jazz home concert events. As one-time house concert hosts, long-time house concert attendees and active promoters of house concerts in general, we're particularly excited about this opportunity. Read our announcement about Groupmuse here and learn more about Groupmuse below.Mapping Today's Events
We added a map of today's events to every Jazz Near You website home page. Example...
The Numbers
We track how many events we add to the Jazz Near You database by day, by month and by year. We added over 72,300 events in 2019, then COVID struck and the number plummeted to 30,400. Many venues, like Jazz Standard, permanently closed while several remaining venues changed ticketing platforms that your friends at Jazz Near You are attempting to account for by identifying the new event management systems used by jazz venues and presenters. Through our efforts in 2023, we're making significant progress to return to pre-COVID numbers, which means a more comprehensive and useful jazz calendar for all.About Groupmuse
Groupmuse seeks to uplift artists and strengthen broader community bonds through live, intimate performances of historically-rooted music. It connects hosts with musicians around the world to present concerts in non-traditional spaces, like living rooms and backyards. Groupmuse is not only free for hosts, but also provides fulfilling performance opportunities to musicians, guaranteeing pay transparency and a $100 minimum payment for every groupmuse they play. In 2020, out of solidarity with Black Lives Matter, the team decided to broaden Groupmuse's focus from Western classical music to encompass all music traditions of the world, specifically including jazz. Groupmuse is pleased to partner with All About Jazz to help support and nurture jazz musicians and communities.
