Mu: Dropouts

Mettendo insieme batteria, chitarre, contrabbassi, bassi elettrici, vibrafoni e glockenspiel, Davide Merlino, Dario Trapani, Simone Prando e Riccardo Chiaberta danno vita ad un progetto che è prossimo a tutti i possibili generi evocati da questa strumentazione senza soffermarsi su nessuno in particolare. Si potrebbe parlare di ambient music, o di approccio minimal, psichedelia soft, ma anche, se fosse possibile un parallelismo mutuato dal rock, di indiejazz, ovvero di una categoria musicale che tiene del jazz quasi esclusivamente l'approccio improvvisativo -affidato in larga misura alla chitarra- ma che poi è suono collettivo su passaggi iterati, temi semplici e delicati impasti timbrici. È musica sussurrata o come il gruppo stesso la definisce, con un punto di domanda, "a nu-jazz experience?".

Se pure in alcuni momenti appare prolisso e con la propensione ad avvitarsi su se stesso, Dropouts ha più di un pregio, un suond originale e soffice, capace di farsi apprezzare per la sintonia d'intenti, alcuni efficaci temi e bella concezione di gruppo.

I Mu hanno un approccio borderline interessante che potrebbe offrire argomenti utili alla loro musica presente e futura.
