A volte escono CD che sono come dischi volanti nell’universo del music business. Volano a distanze siderali. Li avvistano in pochi: spesso gli ultrasensibili o chi va a caccia di “oggetti non identificabili” per mestiere. Hanno una loro personale velocità, una loro singolare traiettoria che è difficile capire e calcolare.

Vogliono mantenere la loro privacy come un dialetto di un paesino di montagna, incomprensibile, ostico e inespugnabile. Tanto popolare, tanto povero quanto elitario.

Diálektos sfuggirà a occhi e orecchie distratte, ma non ai radar sensibili.

Lei, Maria Pia De Vito, non ha poi certo bisogno di tante presentazioni. È l’extraterrestre del canto jazz, della sperimentazione sulle corde vocali.

Lui, Huw Warren, è il vincitore del BBC Jazz Award for Innovation nel 2005, ha collaborato con Kenny Wheeler, Andy Sheppard, Ian Ballamy, Mark Feldman, Theo Blackmann e della folk singer June Tabor.

De Vito e Warren, tra rotte imprevedibili, discese ardite e risalite, spezzettano l’ordine del discorso musicale in tanti rivoli autoctoni per poi tessere dialoghi appassionati (anche se a volte un po’ glaciali per la verità) con una lingua comune: la musica.

Il CD, nato lo scorso anno in Inghilterra in occasione del Festival di Appleby, presenta composizioni originali di Warren, su testi in napoletano della De Vito, su riletture di classici della musica brasiliana (“Ginga carioca” di Hermeto Pascoal; “Beatriz” di Chico Barque), su un brano di Rita Marcotulli (“Miguilim”) e sulla poesia di Totò (“Si fosse n'auciello”).

A volte si affaccia in questo dialogo di musica contemporanea, folk e jazz anche il clarinetto di Gabriele Mirabassi (“Jesce”).

Si è felici, un po’ straniati, un po’ spiazzati di ascoltare lingue musicali “diverse”, dal sapore ancestrale o troppo sofisticato. Spesso sembrano incomprensibili, ma alla fine il fascino è irresistibile.
