Stefano Clemente: Desiderata

Il chitarrista Stefano Clemente sceglie di percorrere la strada maestra della chitarra jazz senza cercare scorciatoie o sentieri impervi. Sentieri che si sa dove partono e non si sa dove finiscono. Alterna sei standard con tre brani originali scritti da lui stesso. Allo stesso modo sei brani sono affrontati in trio con il supporto di contrabbasso e batteria, mentre i tre brani restanti vedono il trio diventare quartetto per l'aggiunta del sax di Renato DiAiello.

Le riletture degli standard sono lineari e rispettose, con spazio per assoli nei quali si intravede passione e lirismo. I tre brani originali non presentano situazioni dissimili e lasciano intravedere una buona intesa con il saxofonista aggiunto. In particolare "BBBlues" sembra ispirarsi a Thelonious Monk e vede il leader pronto a regalarci un bell'assolo, asciutto e solare allo stesso tempo. L'assolo di sax nello stesso brano, invece, è piuttosto boppeggiante, forse al di la delle intenzioni. Va segnalata anche una bella versione del brano di Wayne Shorter "Speak No Evil" con un introduzione misteriosa affidata al contrabbasso di Dario Di Lecce.
