Carlos Bica, Sulida, Gayle / Parker / Graves & Giovanni Guidi

This episode that tilts heavily to the "freer" side was enjoyable to put together. Highlights are provided by new albums from the new Norwegian trio, Sulida, England's Paul Dunmall & Laura Jurd (saxophone and trumpet), Italy's fine pianist Giovanni Guidi's trio with guest James Brandon Lewis, an excerpt of a live recording by Yoni Kretzmer & Juan Pablo Carletti's Biggish, some St. Louis-based musicians featuring the poetry of K. Curtis Lyle and master drummer Bob Moses, the never-released-before Webo by Charles Gayle, William Parker & Milford Graves and a typically and unpredictable piece from bassist Carlos Bica back home in Portugal for 11:11 . That puts a fitting end to this vibrant episode, from soprano saxophonist Roberto Ottaviano's opening tribute to Steve Lacy and all the way through to Bica's piece. Listen! Enjoy!
