Beata Pater: Blue

La vocalist polacca Beate Pater ha scelto di ispirarsi ai colori per i titoli dei suoi CD. Dopo il nero dell'esordio ecco ora il blu, cui faranno seguito CD dedicati al verde, al rosso e al bianco. Un modo di esprimersi che non può non riportare alla memoria i tre emozionanti film del regista suo connazionale Krysztof Kieslowski.

Il disco, prodotto dalla Pater con sagacia insieme al tastierista Mark Little, risulta compatto e di facile ascolto. In scaletta troviamo, tra l'altro due famosi standard, "Afro Blue" e "Blue in Green" (che aprono e chiudono l'album), e due composizioni di Krysztof Komeda, che offrono un ulteriore rimando al mondo del cinema. E poi ci sono le composizioni piuttosto elaborate del duo Pater/Little, a cavallo tra jazz e pop ma capaci di lasciare soddisfatti i cultori di entrambi i generi. A completare la scaletta c'è pure qualcosa di più ambizioso, come il duo di "The Little Prince" e pure il lato più "popolare" di "Fly Strip."

Esagera chi compara la Pater a Bobby McFerrin. Tuttavia non le si possono negare ottime doti tecniche che ben si amalgano con un gruppo di musicisti esperti e che hanno lavorato a lunco con stelle del calibro di James Brown e Tori Amos.
