Townhouse Orchestra: Belle Ville
Due lunghe composizioni istantanee, registrate dal vivo al Belleville di Oslo nel febbraio del 2007, costituiscono - ciascuna occupa un CD - la "riprova" del valore di questo quartetto, nel quale troviamo due "The Thing," il contrabbassista Ingebrigt Håker Flaten e il batterista Paal Nilssen-Love, il pianista Sten Sandell e Evan Parker ai sassofoni.
Improvvisazione di altissimo livello, e non potrebbe essere diversamente quando sono coinvolti musicisti come questi, che sanno condurre in modo quasi telepatico lo sviluppo dell'interazione espressiva attraverso un'esplorazione mai banale dei rapporti tra vuoto e pieno, tra dettaglio e strappo, tra istinto e decisione.
Le due improvvisazioni sono belle e ricche di momenti suggestivi, sia nei collettivi trascinanti che nei tanti spazi nei quali dalle rarefazioni si ramificano le intimità di ciascuno strumento. Chiaro che chi ha già familiarità con questo tipo di musica ci possa trovare pochi elementi di novità, ma si spera sempre che dischi come questo siano lo sprone a programmare più spesso, nei festival e nelle rassegne, quartetti come la Townhouse Orchestra. Ce n'è bisogno.
