Alec Spiegelman - Lefteris Kordis - Thor Thorvaldsson: Bebop Trio

Alec Spiegelman, Lefteris Kordis e Thor Thorvaldsson affrontano con lucidità e coerenza una sorta di suite che pesca da brani originali e da celebri cavalli di battaglia del bebop. La loro bravura progettuale e strumentale permette a queste due tipologie di materiale di fondersi elegantemente senza perdere energia.

Alec Spiegelman sceglie il clarinetto e lascia nel fodero il sax e con questa scelta di campo compie una precisa scelta stilistica che va ben oltre le differenze timbriche. Il batterista Thor Thorvaldsson si trova a dover ricoprire un ruolo ritmico essenziale nell'economia di un trio senza contrabbasso. Non si lascia spaventare dal compito e anzi lo affronta con una certa dose di ironia, senza mai strafare, senza mai perdere di vista il filo del discorso.

Il pianoforte di Lefteris Kordis è forse quello che meglio riesce a cucire il discorso complessivo, senza cercare troppo la luce della ribalta. Un approccio spesso minimalista che in questo contesto funziona molto bene. Se un giorno sentirete una storia iniziare con: "Cosa ci fanno un americano, un greco e un islandese con le armonie del bebop?" saprete già cosa rispondere.
