10 anni di AAJ Italia... e di dischi fenomenali

Nell'epoca delle classifiche e dei premi, il fatto che AAJ Italia abbia dall'inizio deciso di andare "controcorrente," riassumendo l'anno con l'elenco di quei dischi che sono stati segnalati di settimana in settimana come quelli che più ci avevano colpito, non è certo casuale.

Se da un lato infatti questa esigenza muoveva [e muove ancora] dalla natura stessa del web-magazine, che accoglie firme e opinioni anche molto diverse [in qualche caso quasi antitetiche], dall'altro lato ci sembra che l'affresco che viene fuori da questi periodici "riassunti" rifletta al meglio anche la straordinaria vivacità del jazz di questi anni, una musica che per molti aspetti ha trovato una sua stabilizzazione stilistica e vive una sua "classicità," ma che non manca di raccontare affascinati ipotesi di sintesi di linguaggi.

Tanti dischi italiani, ma anche tanti dischi di artisti europei e americani, sono diventati in questi dieci anni nostri "dischi in primo piano," vi abbiamo segnalato ristampe imperdibili e piccoli capolavori nascosti e colpisce, rileggendo oggi i titoli di quei dischi, trovare nel lontano bimestre dicembre 2000/gennaio 2001, nomi come quelli del compianto Bill Dixon o di un jazzista italiano di esperienza come Eugenio Colombo, accanto a quelli di un Giuseppe Ielasi [cui il prestigioso The Wire dedica in queste settimane un importante articolo], di un Micheal Blake o di un Taylor Ho-Bynum, artisti su cui avevamo evidentemente scommesso bene, dal momento che sono oggi tra gli artisti più validi e riconosciuti.

E se nel famigerato settembre 2001 vi segnalavamo al tempo stesso un Bojan Z e gli Oneness of Juju, un Rosario Giuliani e un Carlo Actis Dato, forse vuol dire che siamo stati un luogo di dialogo e democrazia proprio mentre il mondo vedeva crollare più di qualche torre e certezza!

E che finale d'anno ci ha riservato il 2002? A chi sostiene che il jazz è morto rispondevano inequivocabilmente il doppio Broken English / Short Visit to Nowhere del Peter Brötzmann Chicago Tentet così come Modernistic di Jason Moran, Raining on the Moon di William Parker o il fantastico Footprints Live di Wayne Shorter!

Vi invitiamo a scorrere i vari anni e a ripercorrere un decennio alla fine molto più intenso di quanto non sia sembrato a molti: ciascuno di voi troverà qualcosa di fuori posto, quel 4 stelle che proprio non se le meritava o magari qualche assenza che vi sembrerà ingiustificata... è il bello di questo lavoro!

A noi sembra che sia valsa davvero la pena di vivere questi dieci anni dentro ai linguaggi del jazz [ma anche della contemporanea, della popular e degli altri/ritmi] e che il disegno che emerge sia quello di un mondo nel quale con le merci circolano anche liberamente l'emozione e la bellezza. E se proprio non potete fare a meno di classifiche, beh... non avete che da guardarvi intorno, nella rete e in tanti periodici. Noi rimaniamo qui, pronti a condividere con voi le nostre opinioni. Per noi il jazz è anche questo e lo facciamo pensandovi sempre insieme a noi!
