Barbara Fasano: Written In the Stars
La Fasano è un’eccellente interprete che si trova a suo agio tanto con il jazz che con la musica di estrazione cabarettistica. Su questo disco, con gli arrangiamenti del pianista e coproduttore John Di Martino, che ha a sua disposizione jazzisti molto abili, il tutto suona abbastanza mainstream, almeno come involucro per la voce. Le formazioni cambiano di continuo da un brano all’altro e questo tipo di scelta rende il disco abbastanza riuscito e vario all'ascolto.
Qua e là fa capolino il sassofono di Joel Frahm o la chitarra di John Hart, altrove è solo il contrabbasso o il pianoforte ad accompagnare la Fasano, abile a dare la "giusta" interpretazione alle canzoni di Arlen con una voce che suona molto "colta".
