Michel Gentile - Daniel Kelly - Rob Garcia: Works

In attività dal 2007, il trio newyorkese composto da Michel Gentile, Daniel Kelly e Rob Garcia si è sempre distinto per una cifra obliqua tra jazz e mondo classico. Come ben dimostra il "Voir Dire," i tre musicisti gestiscono a meraviglia un sontuoso interplay che li porta a relazionarsi con grinta e cipiglio a velocità diverse. Assai rilevante è la loro abilità nell'imprimere vivide pennellate nel gioco d'insieme della creazione estemporanea. Al di là della tecnica strumentale, colpisce la loro capacità di imbastire un percorso sonoro fatto di sottigliezze armoniche e complessità ritmica.

Il risultato è straordinario se si pensa alla voluta assenza di un contrabbasso nel gioco contrappuntistico. Ne discende un respiro musicale di grande intensità tra snodature di grande eleganza e scansioni avventurose.

Oltre a unire complessità armonica alla distesa cantabilità, il trio dà vita ad una musica di grande valore, che mescola passaggi contrappuntistici a travolgenti beats. Brani come "Chorale" o "Flute Soliloquy" sono ragguardevoli esempi di una personalità visionaria che converrà tener d'occhio. È altresì rilevante il modo con cui la tecnica classica viene portata con natularezza nella pratica jazzistica.
