Adrienne West, Alessio Menconi: With Love to Ella and Joe
Per ogni artista confrontarsi con modelli troppo caratterizzati rappresenta sempre un rischio perchè il confronto sorge immediatamente e può scattare una forma di rigetto. Non è questo il caso perchè sia la West -da anni residente in Olanda -che il chitarrista genovese sono artisti di valore, hanno trovato una particolare affinità e operato con eleganza e partecipazione. Com'è giusto che sia, non tentano inutili imitazioni ma i modelli di riferimento sono acquisiti da tempo e l'affetto per i maestri ne rievoca spontaneamente il feeling.
Gli equilibri musicali sono ineccepibili e tutto scorre con naturalezza tra la limpida voce della West che delinea i temi e la chitarra che contrappunta e interviene in preziosi assoli. Il repertorio scelto spazia da liriche ballad come "Speak Low," "My Ship," "Rain" a qualche brano dinamico come "Love for Sale" e "A Foggy Day."
