In questo album troviamo tutti i brani porteriani più famosi, qualcuno meno frequentato, tracce esclusivamente strumentali, e due composizioni originali, omaggio del pianista all'arte di Porter, le cui canzoni "hanno rappresentato la tela sulla quale improvvisare, l'abito nel quale inserire i miei ricami, le parole alle quali ispirarmi".
Non un album innovativo, né nella forma né nei contenuti, ma comunque un album molto ben suonato e che rivela una profonda aderenza, un grande rispetto nei confronti della musica di Cole Porter.
In un quadro così tradizionale, fa specie trovare alla batteria Tiziano Tononi, solitamente uso a frequentare lidi più audaci. Ma, come dice De Carli, un vero artista può tranquillamente spaziare dal free jazz a forme più tradizionali senza nessun problema".
