Eric Vloeimans, Will Holshouser: Two for the Road
Suite jazz-folk introspettive per una figurazione strumentistica rara e difficile come quella fra tromba e fisarmonica, decisamente più in ottica "europea" come appunto dalle nostre partiinsegnano i progetti di Paolo Fresu con Richard Galliano o Daniele di Bonaventura Rispetto alle mediterraneità di Fresu & Co, i due musicisti di questa incisione lavorano sulle rispettive capacità di interazione dinamica che appunto le versioni "live" del loro progetto testimoniano.
In breve, ammantato da una base melanconica affascinante e ricco di un continuo rimando fra melodia e contrappunto, Two for the Road è un lavoro decisamente eclettico quanto il precedente con, in più, due splendide dediche a Louis Armstrong e Doc Watson ("To Louis" e "Deep Gap"), oltre ad una cover di un classico degli anni Settanta quale la divertente "Rainbow Connection" canzone scritta da Paul Williams e Kenneth Ascher e originariamente eseguita dal personaggio Kermit (la celebre ranocchia verde del Muppet Show) all'inizio del film dedicato ai Muppet del 1979.
