Max Ionata, Dado Moroni: Two for Stevie

Stevie Wonder occupa sicuramente un posto di rilievo nella storia della Black Music, posizionandosi all'incrocio tra soul, rhythm & blues, funk e jazz. I suoi temi hanno fornito stimolo e ispirazione a innumerevoli musicisti di varia estrazione che li hanno interpretati in tanti modi diversi. A questa lista si aggiungono ora il sassofonista Max Ionata e il pianista Dado Moroni, che con il loro ultimo lavoro rendono omaggio al maestro presentando la loro personale interpretazione di undici delle sue composizioni più note, che spaziano lungo tutto l'arco della sua carriera.

Naturalmente i due offrono una lettura prettamente jazzistica dei temi, lasciando gli approfondimenti melodici al sax di Ionata e l'accompagnamento swingante al piano di Moroni (che in alcuni brani possiamo ascoltare anche al contrabbasso). Arrangiamenti tutto sommato abbastanza classici, ma sempre eleganti e ricchi di gusto, che permettono di apprezzare la bellezza dei temi in un contesto specificamente jazz, per un ascolto non impegnativo e gratificante (come del resto gli originali).
