Marc Ducret: Tower-Bridge

Nell'arco del triennio 2011-2013 il repertorio del progetto di Marc Ducret denominato Tower ha visto come interpreti un quintetto franco-danese (Vol. 1), un quartetto franco-americano (Vol. 2), un sestetto francese (Vol. 3), e un solo di chitarra acustica ( Vol. 4). Il quinto capitolo di questa avventura riunisce in un ensemble di dodici elementi tutti i musicisti coinvolti nei precedenti quattro volumi, e si concretizza in un doppio CD registrato dal vivo durante la tournée del 2012, arricchito da un'interessante filmato scaricabile dalla rete.

Tower-Bridge regala poco meno di due ore di musica di un'intensità quasi dolorosa, di una ricchezza clamorosa, capace di stordire, sorprendere, emozionare, di attingere ad una miriade di fonti e dar vita ad un'opera profondamente unitaria. Ducret illustra dettagliatamente nelle note di copertina come nello scrivere e interpretare questa musica si sia ispirato ai lavori e alla tecnica narrativa di Vladimir Nabakov e abbia giostrato le tre formazioni riunite per l'occasione come i tre protagonisti di "Ada" e di altri racconti dello scrittore russo.

Prescindendo dalle pur interessanti informazioni tecniche sul processo creativo del leader risultano evidenti le strategie esecutive adottate, il gioco di scacchi che utilizza le diverse sezioni dell'ensemble per affrontare dalla miglior posizione possibile uno snodo narrativo, un cambio di prospettiva, per aprire impensabili varchi nella fitta rete di connessioni e di intrecci, per abbattersi con la violenza di un uragano o per circuire con leggerezza un'idea. I solisti sono eccellenti, Ducret graffia con qualche intervento di grande sapienza e incisività, ma Tower-Bridge è un lavoro orchestrale a tutti gli effetti, rigoroso e visionario allo stesso tempo, elettrizzante e a suo modo lirico, decisamente contemporaneo.
