Da grande fan di Frank non potevo farmelo mancare, peraltro in doppia veste, sia doppio CD che quadruplo!!! Non per tutti, anche se Freak Out è, o almeno dovrebbe essere, un ascolto obbligatorio.
02. Allman Brothers Band - Instant Live: Alltel Pavillion (Instant - 2003).
E' una delle band senza cui non sarei quello che sono, dopo anni di traversie hanno ritrovato una line-up eccezionale e sono tornati a rappresentare lo swamp-Georgia sound al massimo livello. Grandi!
03. Steppenwolf - Live (ABC - 1970).
E' un gruppo che ascoltavo da ragazzino e che ha scritto alcuni pezzi epocali, hanno un suono ruvido e un'immediatezza senza pari.
04. Stevie Wonder - Natural Wonder (Motown - 1995).
Dal vivo "Little Stevie" dimostra, se ce n'era bisogno, di essere un gigante, che mi colpisce per la forza e mi "ammazza" con la sua capacità di emozionare.
05. Rufus Thomas - Do the Funky Chicken (Atlantic - 1996).
In pieno Stax Sound, una specie di tuffo in un mare di soul, funk e blackness, non esattamente autunnale, mi tira su di morale...
06. Bill Frisell - Ghost Town (Nonesuch - 2000).
Di Frisell mi ha sempre colpito la capacità evocativa, ottenuta attraverso un impiego di "accrocchi" chitarristici molto limitato, come a testimoniare che l'uomo conta più dei suoi pedali... anche qui, in solo, si dimostra efficace, e i suoi colori mi emozionano.
07. Gil Scott-Heron - Spirits (Tvt - 1994).
Forse poco conosciuto, ma di grande qualità, antesignano della Great Black Music, abbastanza visionario.
08. Mingus - Live at Cornell University (Blue Note - 2007).
09. John and Yoko Plastic Ono Band - Sometimes in N.Y. City (Capitol - 2005).
10. Celine Dion - A Decade of Songs (Sony - 1999).
Vista dal vivo quest'estate, mi ha molto colpito. Emozionante.
