I Master Musicians of Jajouka piombano nella vita musicale dell'occidente alla fine degli anni Sessanta, quando la loro tradizione musicale trova - da William Burroughs a Ornette Coleman, passando per Brian Jones (che ne fece la fortuna discografica pure se era già morto) - un varco felicissimo nei cuori e nelle orecchie voraci di un pubblico che apprezza molto esotismo e trance.

Da allora, i musicisti di questa piccola comunità montana marocchina, luogo dove rifugiarsi e dove trovare nuove energie, hanno continuato a portare avanti la lunga tradizione sotto la guida di Bachir Attar, diventando delle vere e proprie pop-star dell'ipno-etno-world e questo nuovo The Source conferma appieno l'efficacia della formula, con le sue percussioni ossessive e i petulanti oboi ghaita, i flauti e i guimbri.

Inutile cercare di ricomporre purezze e imbastardimenti: passati sotto lo sguardo di Bertolucci e per gli stampi di Peter Gabriel, i maestri comunque non si scompongono e continuano come incantatori fermi nel tempo a fare danzare gli spiriti.

Ed è difficile resistergli!
