Mike Rodriguez

Born: July 14, 1979

GRAMMY® Award winningTrumpeter/composer, Michael Rodriguez was born on July 14, 1979 in Queens, New York. Michael was inspired to pursue music as a career by his father, drummer Roberto Rodriguez. Michael studied at the New World school of the Arts in Miami, Florida where he grew up and continued his studies at the University of Miami. After completing two years at the University of Miami, he decided to transfer to the New School University in New York where he received his B.A.  Michael has performed and toured with Clark Terry, Bobby Watson, Quincy Jones, Joe Lovano, Toshiko Akiyoshi Orchestra, Pop Icon Jessica Simpson, Chico O’farill Orchestra, Wynton Marsalis and the JALC, Lincoln Center Afro-Latin Jazz Orchestra, and is a member of Charlie Haden’s Liberation Music Orchestra. Michael has also performed and traveled with Jon Faddis and the Carnegie Hall Jazz Band, Carla Bley Band and Quintet, Kenny Barron’s Quintet, Conrad Herwig Latin Side Projects, Clayton Brothers Quintet, Harry Conick jr., Bob Mintzer, Eddie Palmieri Septet, Herbie Hancock, Chick Corea and the Spanish Heart Band,  Smithsonian Jazz Orchestra amoung others. In December of 2003 Michael recorded on Charlie Haden’s GRAMMY® award winning album featuring Gonzalo Rubalcaba and Joe Lovano entitled ¨Land of the Sun¨. Michael has also recorded on Charlie Haden’s Liberation Music Orchestra’s latest album entitled “Not in Our Name” and is featured on “America the Beautiful” and Dvojak’s “Going Home”. In 2008, Michael became a member of the Gonzalo Rubalcaba quintet and recorded “Avatar” under the Blue Note Label. In 2019, Michael joined Chick Corea’s Spanish Heart Band and won a GRAMMY® for best Latin Jazz in 2020.

Miki Hirose

Born: January 25, 1984

Miki began playing trumpet in High school in his native city Kobe, Japan. He quickly became a well sought after talent in the Kansai West Japan area. After graduating from high school Miki was one of the youngest recipients to receive several awards for his talent such as the Shoji Nakayama and Naniwa Art Prize awards. Miki arrived in New York in 2003 and has been freelancing here ever since. Dwayne White

Born: March 24, 1969

Dwayne White Bio Dwayne White is an experienced jazz trumpeter, music educator, clinician, composer, and arranger. A native of “The Birthplace of Jazz” in New Orleans, Louisiana, Dwayne’s affection for jazz began at an early age. Starting his journey on trumpet during grade school, Dwayne quickly developed an affinity for his instrument whilst playing in marching bands through high school. Dwayne continued his musical studies at Florida A&M University (FAMU) in Tallahassee, Florida where he received a B.S. degree in Music Education. Bria Skonberg

Born in British Columbia, Canada and now residing in New York City, Bria has been a featured artist at hundreds of festivals and stages the world over, including New Orleans Jazz & Heritage, Kobe, Monterey, Breda, Newport and Montreal Jazz Festivals. Described as “one of the most versatile and imposing musicians of her generation” (Wall Street Journal), she has performed with Jon Batiste, Wycliffe Gordon, Stephane Wrembel, Steven Bernstein, U2 & Sun Ra Arkestra, The American Pops and Vancouver Symphony Orchestras, The Blacksmiths “We Insist” Band, and once sang the “Star Spangled Banner” at Madison Square Garden for a NY Rangers game.  The “shining hope of hot jazz” (NY Times) has been at the forefront of a revival of classic American music as both a performer and educator, programming concerts and workshops for students of all ages.  A 3x Juno Award Nominee, Bria's debut LP on Sony Masterworks won for Best Jazz Vocal Album and made the Top 5 on Billboard jazz charts.  Bria has recorded on over 25 albums and recently released her sixth studio solo album “Nothing Never Happens” consisting of mostly original compositions; Her music has garnered over 13 million streams online and over 85000 social media followers. Ben Syversen

Born: June 14, 1983

The anything goes, eclectic mentality of the musical melting pot of Brooklyn, NY is the perfect setting for trumpeter and composer Ben Syversen’s first album as a leader, Cracked Vessel. Making the most of the broad palette available to three musicians, the pieces in this album range from rocking vehicles for free improvisation to ethereal tone poems and long form narratives. The band builds on but quickly departs from ideas pioneered by such creative music luminaries as Tim Berne, Ellery Eskelin, and Jim Black, while drawing in sounds from experimental rock and No Wave bands like Sonic Youth and DNA, twisted takes on Americana, and sly, just beneath the surface references to Eastern European folk music. John Daversa

John Daversa “gets sounds to come out of his little red trumpet like you never heard. The [John Daversa Progressive Big] Band itself ditto,” according to The Los Angeles Times. Daversa’s compositions and improvisations reflect a musical philosophy that aims to stretch boundaries, while maintaining a reverence for the jazz tradition.

Daversa is a versatile and respected performer, composer, arranger, producer, bandleader, and educator. He took an immediate interest in music at an early age, first through piano and voice, and later with trumpet and EVI (Electronic Valve Instrument).
