Gary Alesbrook

Born: July 26, 1976

Alesbrook studied jazz trumpet at Leeds College of Music. His debut jazz album, "Jazz In Movies," is out now! He started his session career in 1999 with the Super Furry Animals, touring and playing on the albums 'Mwng, Rings Around the World, Hey Venus! and Phantom Power. He also played on Gruff Rhys solo album, Hotel Shampoo. Alesbrook recorded with Kasabian in 2006 playing "The Doberman" on their second album "Empire." He toured next with the Scissor Sisters on their UK dates and for their live DVD recorded July 2007 at London O2 arena. He then joined Kasabian for recording and touring from 2007 until the present day, recording on Empire, West Ryder Pauper Lunatic Asylum, Velociraptor! 48:13 and most recently For Crying Out Loud. In between Kasabian commitments Alesbrook also toured and performed with US RnB artist Raphael Saadiq, Kelis, Rag 'N' Bone Man, Nadine Coyle and recorded on albums KT Tunstall, Tiger Suit and Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds​. ​ Alesbrook has also played on soundtracks for film, TV and computer games, including London Boulevard and Guy Ritchie's The Man From Uncle

J.Q. Whitcomb

Born: March 12, 1979

Trumpeter and composer J.Q. Whitcomb doesn’t just play jazz. He creates moods. From poignant, reflective tenderness to brash and boisterous exuberance, his compositions evoke adventures and romances, his trumpet playing the ever-adaptable thespian that commands every ear’s attention to the end.

Tales of Enchantment (2014), is J.Q.’s second album as bandleader. Recorded in New York City, the album features J.Q.’s quintet Five Below in a new instrumentation playing all original arrangements. Except for an adaptation of the Depeche Mode 80s pop song Enjoy the Silence, all the pieces on the album are J.Q.’s original compositions. In this project, J.Q.’s writing has incorporated more odd meters to round out the modern compositional sound he has continued developing since the release of Airports, as well as exploring even more deeply the range of emotional textures the quintet setting can evoke. From the angular melodies in “Synapse” to the rich, luscious harmonies in “And the Rains Came”, this album brings listeners on an epic adventure, telling tales of faraway and most enchanting places. Matt Finley

Born: August 17, 1951

A professional musician for over fifty-five years, multi-instrumentalist Matt Finley is a native of Lake George, New York. He graduated from Union College, where he led a combined Union/SUNY Albany/RPI Jazz Workshop to a semi-final appearance at the American College Jazz Festival and received honorable mention in the New York Times. Matt earned his master's degree from the College of Saint Rose and is permanently certified to teach music in New York State. He performed for many years with Grammy-winning baritone saxophonist Nick Brignola and was a featured trumpet soloist and arranger with the Albany Jazz Workshop

Mao Soné

Born: June 10, 1991

Mao Soné is a multi-award-winning trumpeter, a pianist, and a composer based in Tokyo. He recently appears, as in the leading role, on the Kevin Hæfelin's film, TRUMPET, which has received awards from internationally recognized film festivals, including the Best Short Audience Award at the 42nd Max Ophüls Preis, the Best Short Comedy Award and Ambassador Award at Rhode Island International Film Festival, and the Audience Award at Short Shorts Film Festival & Asia. Now, Mao mainly works on his music with his acoustic trio, his electric quartet "Brightness of the Lives", which will release the new CD album in January 2022, Mao received a full scholarship at Berklee College Of Music in 2010

Keyon Harrold

Keyon Harrold was born and raised in Ferguson, MO, the St. Louis suburb that tore into America’s national consciousness in 2014 with the police shooting of Michael Brown and the bitter protests and riots that followed. While Ferguson looms large in Harrold’s album The Mugician, it examines our troubled times through a far wider lens than any one tragedy. Sweeping and cinematic, the music draws on elements of jazz, classicval, rock, blues, and hip hop to create something uniquely modern, unmistakably American. Guests including Pharoahe Monch, Gary Clark, Jr., Big K.R.I.T., Guy Torry, Georgia Anne Muldrow and Robert Glasper add to the record’s eclectic nature, but it ultimately triumphs as a unified, cohesive whole both because of Harrold’s virtuosic skill as a trumpeter and songwriter and because of his relentlessly optimistic belief in brighter days to come. Ron Horton

Born: November 21, 1948

Since 1982, trumpeter Ron Horton has been an integral part of New York's flourishing jazz scene and he stands out both as an exemplary instrumentalist and as a highly progressive composer and arranger. Whether called upon as a sideman or as a leader of one of his own ensembles, he shows that he is committed to further expanding the existing perimeters of jazz. Photo: Ben Allison Horton has had many long musical associations with leaders such as saxophonist Jane Ira Bloom (1983-2000) and pianist Andrew Hill. He was a member of Hill's sextet from 1998 until 2003, and appears on the group's critically acclaimed cd, Dusk (Palmetto 2000)

Steven R Klenke

Born: October 23, 1955

Austin-based Composer/Trumpeter, Steve Klenke's eclectic composition and trumpet chops are brightly lit and brimming with good vibrations; Klenke's own timeless jazz, pop, and orchestral/soundtrack compositions offer the best of past and present sounds with a consistent high standard of performance. University trained, former award winning music educator, Steve has thousands of gigs and a CD release to his credit. Steve is both a songwriter and publisher member of BMI, Husband, Dad, Grandpa, and the founder and owner of eMotific Music. Klenke's goal is simple, to place more of his tracks in Film/TV/Sync, to create meaningful connections through music, and to continue to play gigs on the trumpet! 

Jeff Lofton

Born: September 5, 1966

Jazz trumpeter and composer Jeff Lofton is a Grammy member and two time SXSW Austin Music Awards winner. Jeff has performed at One World Theater, Stateside at the Paramount, and the Long Center for the Performing Arts since his arrival on the Austin music scene in 2007.  

His creativity, musical integrity and talent has been well-received in both his 1950's Miles Davis tribute as well as his original material. In 2009 the City of Austin proclaimed Jan 15th “Jeff Lofton Day.”  He has performed at jazz venues such as Snug Harbor in New Orleans, and The Iridium, in NY, as well as regional central Texas performance venues. He has received ongoing positive press and regional and national attention such as allaboutjazz.com, Jazztimes, and Downbeat magazines. In 2015 he was named an American Icon in Macy’s national ad campaign supporting “Got Your 6” programs benefitting U.S. veterans and their families. 

ctraltu

Born: October 30, 1965

First drum lessons in Duisburg, then studies of the Dante Agostine Drum Method at the Westfälische Schule für Musk in Münster, study of musicology. Trio, big band, ensemble, other instruments in self-study or with private teachers. Foundation of ctraltu in 2012 as a solo project with the influences of jazz in ambient and electronic, acoustic modern music.

Ellen Kirkwood

Born: August 3, 1985

Ellen Kirkwood is a trumpeter, composer, bandleader and educator from Marrickville, Sydney. She studied Jazz at the Sydney Conservatorium under many Australian Jazz greats including Mike Nock, Warwick Alder, Judy Bailey, Matt McMahon and Dale Barlow. In 2012 she won the Jann Rutherford Memorial Award for young women in Jazz. She was a finalist in the 2017 Freedman Jazz Fellowships and her 1 hour suite [A]part was a finalist for Jazz Work of the Year in the 2018 APRA Art Music Awards. In 2016 Ellen received a grant from the Australia Council for the Arts for a composition mentorship with stellar composer/pianist Barney McAll, during which she penned [A]part - a groundbreaking 1 hour suite for 16 piece Sirens Big Band plus featured soloists Andrea Keller, Sandy Evans and Gian Slater
