Ways + Simon Toldam: Fortunes

Read "Fortunes" reviewed by Troy Dostert

Two iconoclasts currently generating interest in their native Canada and beyond, alto saxophonist Brodie West and drummer Evan Cartwright can be found playing in widely varying contexts, frequently in a duo format under the moniker Ways. Often joined by pianists of similar, boundary-stretching temperament, West and Cartwright refuse to trade in jazz cliches or stay comfortably ...

Simon Toldam Trio: Omhu

Read "Omhu" reviewed by Alberto Bazzurro

Nove i brani, tutti del leader tranne il secondo e il quarto, firmati “democraticamente" dal trio al completo, e tutti più o meno indistintamente ...

For the Danish trumpeter, Jakob Buchanan, it was the return to his childhood home, Rosenhill, which brought back a series of ...

Tobias Wiklund: Where the Spirits Eat

Read "Where the Spirits Eat" reviewed by Jakob Baekgaard

Who is the man behind the beard? This is the question one could be tempted to ask when seeing the cover of the young Swedish-born cornetist Tobias Wiklund's album, Where the Spirits Eat. The eyes of the horn-player are hidden, but if the saying goes that the eyes are the windows to the soul, there's no ...
