Can you make Jazz & Funk music based only on computer software? I like to think so! ZoulActive is based in Halmstad, Sweden and came to life in the late 90's. After several attempt of making music the old fashion way I bought my first 'puter and music programs. From the very beginning I had a clear view of what I was trying to achieve; to make electronic jazz/ funk with an acoustic feel to it. Believe me, it was hard to live up to my dreams with the lack of equipment I had at the time, but to make a long story short. Now, 5 years later i'm slowly getting there! Denio (rhymes with ‘Ohio’ or ‘gennaio’) is a multi- instrumentalist composer and singer based in Hansville, WA. Home-taper since the Dark Ages of Analogue, she started her label Spoot Music in 1986, with the release of her first cassette, ‘No Bones.’ Since then, she’s recorded & released over 60 cassettes, LPs and CDs created solo and with an array of international musicians. Her parents played jazz semi-professionally, and she grew up in a musical household. She was inducted into the Seattle Jazz Hall of Fame in 2015. Richard Niles

Internationally acclaimed composer, arranger, and producer Dr. Richard Niles is known for his work in pop (Paul McCartney, Pet Shop Boys, Cher, Tears for Fears, Grace Jones), jazz (Pat Metheny, Randy Brecker, Bob James, John Pattitucci, Gary Husband, Bob Mintzer), soul (Ray Charles, Tina Turner, James Brown, Michael McDonald). He has worked with actors Oliver Reed, Robert Powell, and Jessie Buckley.

His arrangements helped “define the sound of pop” (Making Music Magazine), while his work in jazz is “accessible, yet thought provoking” (Randy Brecker). Pop hits include Left to My Own Devices (Pet Shop Boys), Breakout (Swing Out Sister), and Sowing the Seeds of Love (Tears for Fears).

Skinny Hightower

Born: November 12, 1985

A music producer with a solid background as a multi-instrumentalist jazz musician, Skinny Hightower emerged in 2017 with his self-released label debut Emotions which boasts a number one Billboard single in Taboo. He holds three total top 10 jazz Billboard singles to his name with One Way Street and Sample That following respectively from his follow-up release Retrospect in 2018. As an artist, he has performed at various events and jazz festivals to include the Seabreeze Jazz Festival and Catalina Island Jazztrax Festival. His full-range production style has earned him a reputation as a formidable artist in jazz, but his plans have shifted from that of an artist to a well-rounded and established record producer, evident in his involvement in many parallel projects for other artists.

Phil Scragg

Phil has lectured at K College Tunbridge and has performed at the Albert Hall and Wembley Arena. He has toured internationally with many artists including The Beautiful South, Incantation, Evidence, Joey Negro, Dudu Pukwana, Imelda Staunton, Billy Jenkins, John Etheridge, Carol Grimes and many others. As a recording artist his credits include Robert Plant, Joey Negro, Ester Aweke, Dudu Pukwana, Just East and Sax Appeal. As well as performance and recording Phil also works as a composer/arranger and producer with numerous TV and film credits to his name.

Kestutis Stanciauskas

Born: January 4, 1951

Kestutis Stanciauskas organized "Streetdancer" as a quartet in 1973. The fundamental purpose for the ensemble was and is to play original compositions using improvisation and original composition as the foundation for creativity. Lee Engele

Lee has been gaining more and more acclaim as a talented and hard-working vocalist in the region. Her recent gigs have included The Dakota, The Twin Cities Jazz Festival, and Hopkins Center for the Arts, as well as many of the local jazz venues. Lee was a participant in the 2008 edition of the prestigious Yale Cabaret Conference, and appeared at the Bloomington Center for the Arts in December 2009 with Debbie Duncan and Bruce Henry in a salute to the 60th anniversary of Birdland. Lee also has worked as Disc Jockey for the past 25 years, and has performed in radio, voice-overs, theater, and with a number of local Big Bands
